S‘WÖARTÔRBUO - the dicionary for a small region in Austria

I illustrated a new book which was just released last week. The Bregenzerwald is a small rural area in Austria near the Lake of Constance and very close to the Alps. The spoken language is German but with a really special accent called „Bregenzerwälderisch“ - nearly impossible to understand for normal German speaking people. Super BFG, the design company of this German - Bregenzerwälderisch dicitionary invited me to travel through their lovely mountain area, together with my sketchbook, pencils and Christian Feurstein as my personal translator. It was a great research: tasty food, breathteaking landsacapes, lovely people.

I met cheesemakers, farmers and their cows, a taxidermist and wooden shoe makers. I learned what „Buscholn“ means, where the hunters meet, and how they make their traditional costumes.
