“Connect the dots” for DIE ZEIT

What do people fear if they suffer from Coulrophobia?

Publication "Stilgefühl"

Everyone wants to be unique, new and distinctive with their own style of drawing. But how does someone recognize this very own illustrative style? For the book "Stilgefühl" Karoline Pietrowski asked 91 national and international illustrators to present their very own style of drawing as a self-portrait accompanied by some words about the topic.

Publication "Illusive - Contemporary Illustration Part Four"

John O'Reilly writes about my work: "A different visual rythm with more culturally dominant kind of imagery. This act of slowing things down is increasingly seen in […] Florian Bayer's reportage pieces, where deeper layers of reality intrude […]. Post-realism is how illustrators document life, folding in the layers of images we carry around with us as humans in the age of pictures."
The book, published by Gestalten Verlag, features four of my projects.

Publication "Shaping the Design Scene - ED 2014"

This is the juried selection of the best that the European communication design industry has to offer, divided in 34 categories, featuring the Landjäger Magazine's Jass cards.
Hard cover, 264 pages and ready to inspire.

European Design Awards

"Jasskarten" won bronze at this year's European Design Awards. The celebration was tonight in Cologne.
”Jassen” is a typical card game in Vorarlberg (Austria), Switzerland and in the south of Germany. The deck of cards varies slightly between the regions. Following its approach to look differently on things, topics and paradigms for Landjäger Magazine it was clear to search for another approach to the traditional ”Jass” cards. Each illustrator was responsible for their own interpretation of one colour. Keeping in mind that it should be possible to differ between the cards that a play would be possible. I am happy to have been part of this project together with the other illustrators Katarina Ralser, Fabienne Feltus and Marco Wagner. All credits here.

It's Nice That.

James Cartwright wrote a nice review about my work: "Berlin-based illustrator Florian Bayer is a master of traditional media, using dip-pen and ink to create bold illustrations full of movement and life. [...] using his impressive draughtsmanship to suit the story he’s telling [...] his portfolio is brimming with fantastic [...] illustrations [...] there’s a phenomenal level of skill displayed in each and every piece."

Visual Thinking Workshop in Austria

Many people working in the creative field know of the following or similar dilemmas: How to explain an idea, discuss an approach, show first product ideas or demonstrate a certain detail to clients, partners or supervisors other than with words? Sometimes a few sketches would solve the problem, but what if one can't draw?
My Impulse Lecture helps to overcome those difficulties and gives advice on how to put your own ideas into easily readable drawings using simple drawing techniques.
